About us
Mindhash is a small Dutch software engineering company founded in 2018 and based at the High Tech Systems Park in Hengelo. At Mindhash we design and build complex software and hardware to run it on. We work on a few of our own products, on engineering projects with partners as well as for customers, on experiments and prototypes that help us explore new ideas and technologies, and we help other companies innovate through technical consultancy and building proofs-of-concept.
We are nerds, love technology, and attempt to pick the projects based on whether they provide an exciting challenge for us. One such project is StreetAnalytics, which uses LiDAR to improve infrastructure by continuously scanning the environment to identify traffic, measure speed and position, and provide insight to traffic experts and city planners. It involves developing new algorithms and machine learning approaches, designing battery-powered hardware, implementing live remote viewing, and generating statistics and visualisations. Another project is the GlobalLink series devices made for Victron Energy, IoT devices that connect wirelessly to remotely read solar and battery systems. It involves designing efficient and secure data transmission, building reliable systems for over-the-air updates, debugging low-level microcontroller software, and optimising algorithms and data structures.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for a bachelor or master student in electrical engineering who shares our love for technology, is enthusiastic about delivering beautifully designed hardware and well-written documentation, enjoys the challenge of making misbehaving circuits behave, and likes working both at times alone and with a team. You are familiar with microcontrollers such as the ESP32 and have some experience with embedded programming in languages such as C or MicroPython.
- Bachelor or master student in a relevant area such as Electrical Engineering;
- Familiar with microcontrollers, specifically with the ESP32 is an advantage;
- Enjoys working on new technology with both hardware and (embedded) software components;
- Self-motivated, set priorities and plans their own work;
- Good communicator, documenting and explaining their ideas;
- Takes responsibility, works with partners/customers directly;
- Doesn’t mind co-workers getting excited over decades-old technology.
What’s in it for you?
As a student working at Mindhash, you will be a part of a young and small company, which means you get a lot of freedom to use your creativity to approach projects however you like, but also the responsibility to set the right priorities to reach our goals. We take pride in the craft of engineering and try to provide regular feedback to each other and encourage learning new things. Aside from working hard, we aim to have a relaxing environment, spend some time on fun side projects, and even have the occasional LAN party.
- Exciting customers like BAM, Liberty Global, Rijkswaterstaat, Thales and Victron Energy;
- An informal work environment with likeminded people;
- Full access to our offices and all the snacks in the secret snack stash;
- Flexible working hours and hybrid working;
- Visits to events such as FOSDEM and CES;
- Possibility to follow courses and trainings.
Where will you work?
Our office is located in Hengelo (OV). Working hours at Mindhash are flexible, but we value face-to-face communication and thus ask student to be at the office at least one day per week to connect with colleagues. When there is nobody at the office and we’re working remotely, we keep connected using a combination of chat, (video)calls and email.
